Book of Common Prayer

We can all use a little help on our spiritual journey!  Did you know that…the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer (BCP) provides an amazing guide to help you in your spiritual journey?  From its creation in the 1500’s, the purpose was to provide direction in all aspects of individual and corporate life in the church.  The Daily Office is the first section of the BCP and sets up a guide for daily worship to support the Eucharist, which is the primary service in the Episcopal Church as it provides a common gathering of God’s family.   The BCP offers both Morning and Evening Prayer which are regular services appointed for public worship (BCP p. 13).”   The individual offices include An Order for Noonday, An Order for Evening, Compline, as well as Daily Devotions for Individuals and Families.  These services are intended for ordinary Christians in their daily lives.  As you read these you become part of a common focus shared by people all around the world.  Daily Offices follow a two year lectionary (scripture readings) which can be found in the BCP beginning on p. 936.

Take some time to explore the BCP and use
the daily offices to the Glory of God as you make
time in your day to practice your faith.
